The Possession

September is a busy month in the land of Miss Wicked, with 2 birthdays to celebrate it can get pretty crazy! This year for my Sister's birthday I took her to see The Possession. It's about a young girl whose parent's have divorced and while staying with Dad he buys her an old box at a yard sale. Leave it to Dad to buy the cursed object lol! The family soon discovers that the box was meant to stay closed.

It was a different take on possession and I like that it was not the usual Catholic Church deal. Although they are the masters of ridding one's body of unwanted visitors lol. I have to say it was one of the better possession movies to have come out recently. I was pretty disappointed with the last Exorcist movie to come out awhile back but I still appreciate its creepiness.

My next theater trip is either going to be The House at the End of the Street or Sinister! Love this time of the year :-}!

What was the last horror movie you watched and what did you think about it?

Also don't forget to read and post on my last post

Best Town For Halloween Loving Families

I really would like to get a lot of feedback on this so please let others know as well :-).

Best Town For Halloween Loving Families

Halloween is fast approaching and I have been noticing a change, it seems like Halloween isn't being celebrated as much as it was when I was a kid. With so much political correctness and what not things that make childhood fun are being changed. Now they don't even call it Halloween Festival at schools (or Christmas for that matter...that a whole other blog lol). If you don't celebrate a particular religion then don't participate. It is our differences that make this country great so whats the point in hiding it behind "PC". My daughter is not African American but I want her to learn and celebrate African American Heritage Month as well as learn about other cultures and religions.  Things are crazy, just accept and celebrate people's differences and enjoy life and be nice.  Geesh lol.

Parents are afraid to let their kids trick or treat for fear of poison candy and social deviants who prey on kids (I have a solution for that) and the kids are cheated out of the experience. Trunk or Treat is just not the same as going to see all your neighbors creepy, and if your lucky, terrifying houses and collecting bags full of candy all the while wondering if there are any goblins and ghouls waiting to grab you when you stray to far from the lights.

I have given thought to if I was going to move where would it be and having an awesome Halloween town would be great! I figure other like minded people would find this useful too. Arizona isn't bad but it has just changed. I am curious as to what Halloween is like in other towns across America and would love to have everyone's input on what the best towns and neighborhoods in those towns for Halloween are and have a reason by answering these questions....

Does your town have....

  • Family attractions like fall festivals, carnivals, or any other family friendly stuff.
  • Halloween Parades and are they big?
  • Haunted Attractions
  • Neighborhoods that go all out on Halloween with decorations and candy
  • Block parties
  • Real haunted places
  • Local spooky legends
  • Great Fall Weather

And anything else you think is spooky and awesome for the darkest night of the year. You can either post in comments or email me at and I will make it all into a list for everyone to see.

Eli Roth's Goretorium

A rusty old machine squeaking, the sickly sound of blood and goo sticking to your shoes as you walk up to sit in the chair. The whole scene changes, lighting gets darker, more sinister. This is the video that gives you a taste of whats in store for an awesome year round haunted attraction in no where other then Las Vegas, Nevada!!!!!

Eli Roth's Goretorium opens up on September 27, 2012 and promises you will never be the same!Eli Roth is the Actor/Director/Writer behind Hostel and Cabin Fever. It is sure to be thrilling, disturbing and all kinds of awesome :-D! I am not sure if I will be able to make it out there since September is a double birthday month, my daughter then my sister, which makes the timing not so great for me but I hope to get out to see it soon. I'm in need of a trip anyways lol.

For now check out the intro video and let me know if you are going to check out Goretorium. It is a little intense so 18+ is suggested. You can also check out the website at

Phoenix Fearcom Is Coming!

I was looking up different conventions that were held like Comic Con, Sacrefest, and Westcoast Haunters Convention and I found one that is going to be locally. October 13 2012 will be coming, Phoenix Fearcon! I have always wanted to go to one of these so hopefully I will be able to make it. If not I will definitively plan on going to one in one of the others.

Nothing excites me more then the thought of being surrounded by other horror fanatics and getting to see all the vendors and movies they show. See I am the only one in my family that is as much of a fan of the genre. My sister likes it too but it has different meaning to me then her.

I would love to hear about everyone's experiences at the different horror/haunters/sci fi conventions :-)

Saturday Morning Frights

Ok, yes I love the super scary horror and the gore of course but nothing brings me back to my youth then the movies and cartoons I watched as a kid. I liked the kid spooky stuff as well and I still do. I will watch even the Disney Halloween or spooky themed type of moves and t.v. shows so you can say I am well rounded lol.

I just found out (obviously a little late) that FEARnet is going to have FEARnet's Funhouse on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10am-12pm! They will be showing shows like Eerie IN, The Real Ghostbusters, Dark Oracle, and one of my favorites, Tales From The Crypkeepert!!!! If you want some more info on these shows go here.

Did you watch any of these as a kid? What other creepy kid movies and shows did you watch?

About Miss Wicked

Hello fellow fanatics! I am a Horror, Halloween, Special Effects, Paranormal (and everything in between) fanatic and one of my reasons for making this blog is to connect with others who share my enthusiasm for the macabre.

I saw my first horror movie when I was very young, about 6 and ever since I have had a fascination with everything dark and unknown. I had a rough childhood and in a weird sort of way my horror movies and books helped me get through it. I was able to lose myself in a story and also maybe channel my anger and frustration into those stories instead of going somewhere completely different with that anger. So basically I am living proof that horror movies don't create killers, those people were more broken anyways.

So what you will find in my blog is anything and everything to do with horror movies, paranormal, Halloween and all the other bump in the night type of stuff. Feel free to email, comment, and share your thoughts and experiences with me.

Happy Haunting!!
