Our Wicked Halloween 2016

This year kind of made me sad. I don't know if it's just my neighborhood or if it is a problem in a lot of places, but barely any houses in my neighborhood were decorated! To top that off we didn't even get many trick or treaters!

I feel so bad for kid's today! They don't know what it is like to go trick or treating in a neighborhood filled with decorated houses. To have that age old feeling of fear, reverence, and a connection to our past. I wish parents now would remember their childhood and want to keep that alive for their children and generations to come. If we don't keep traditions alive, they will fade away into history books.

How sad would a world be without Halloween?

I don't know about you but I can't bare to think of that!

Is it that people just don't want to take the time to do the decorating? It can't be all about money because there are plenty of things you can do with little to no money...I should know because I am one of those people that don't have much money lol. Plus if you just pick up a couple things each year, you accumulate a lot! After Halloween sales are AWESOME!

One of my biggest beliefs is this, kid's need a little magic! Yes, sometimes people get caught up too much in the material side of things and forget about the rest but it is still important. Traditions, holiday's, they bring us together and unify us. They are such an integral part of families and even communities!

We can not let that die out!

I designed a shirt to convey that message. I will be coming up with more designs but this is my first of the kind.  I know Halloween is over (Except for those of us who believe it is year round.), but it is a way to get an early start for next year. If you would like to check it out, click here
I also have these...

Just a little something I enjoy doing that I hope will also help me keep my blog alive and expanded upon lol.

So with that said, this is some pic's from our Halloween :-)

My baby and her doggo right after I finished her makeup.

My little wolf in sheep's clothing.... we got inspiration from Laurie, the girl from Trick R' Treat that was a werewolf dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood out on her first hunt and added the claw marks like she was scratched by a werewolf and turned. We got the Scarecrow brand Werewolf Fangs but the larger set didn't fit her small teeth lol. So needless to say we just did the small fangs.

I love the sky in the background of this picture.

I decided to do a last minute creepy clown costume. Not the big in your face clown costume, but the kind that, until you see the face, you don't know it's there :-).

Here are some pictures of our pumpkins and our house. I was busy doing everyone's makeup so I didn't get to take pic's at twilight. Just after it all died down.

You can't see it too good but there is a ghoulie we threw together hanging in the tree and a grave below.

And here is a less Spoopy more Goofy pic of me :-)

I hope you had a great Halloween! Can't believe it's over but we have fun with the other holiday's as well. We just carry Halloween with us all year long.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how Halloween and holidays in general have gotten. What is it like where you live?

Halloween Decorations 2016

I long for the day that I can afford to do the things I really want to do for Halloween Decorating. To be able to come up with an idea and not be so concerned with the money that I don't do it because it will interfere with responsibilities. I look forward to this time of the year so much and it is disheartening when I can't just enjoy it. For now, I just do the best I can.

Anyways, I have an ok set up inside....it's outside that I have had more trouble getting together. I will get there though.

I LOVE decorating! My daughter and I put on some spooky music, bake some Halloween cookies, and break out all the decorations.

Back when my mom was alive and my parents had a house with all rocks in the front yard (Desert Landscaping), we would go out at night and dig graves lol. Talk about freaking out the neighbors! It was GREAT! Now I have grass in the front yard and I can't dig it up so I have to come up with some more creative way's to make a graveyard.

One of the thing's I want to do is get a bunch of baby dolls and zombify them (or just make them look creepy) and have them held up with lawn stakes so it looks like they are standing lol.

So here are the pictures I took of my set up. I hope you like them!

This was taken before I got the big Haunted House.
You will see it further down.

I took some little pumpkins and drew faces on them with a sharpie. Need some more.

This is a new decoration I found at Goodwill. it is animated and makes noise but doesn't work but it is still pretty cool! It has a lot of detail.

I involve my mom in our decorating. She is in the urn covered by a green bag under the stuffy. My family has a morbid sense of humor lol. It is, all in all, my way of keeping her presence around.

a

I found an AWESOME site with all kinds of instructions on Halloween Haunting! It is basically like a master list of websites that have instruction on building various props and decorations. I love it! Anyways, go check it out at http://www.halloweenmonsterlist.info/

I hope you liked the pictures and remember to Keep Halloween Alive!

Book Review: Wrathbone and Other Stories by Jason Parent

Wrathbone and Other Stories by Jason Parent

While I was perusing my email, I was wickedly surprised to receive a request to do a book review from an author I came across on Twitter. I had not had the opportunity to read his work before this so I was excited and honored to get the chance to do so.

Wrathbone
The first story, Wrathbone is a haunting historical fiction that tell's the story of Major Henry Rathbone a Confederate soldier, and the object of his affections, Clara Harris It chronicles the tale of his decent into madness after failing to be able to save President Lincoln when he and Clara were invited to be their guest's at Ford's Theater that dark night in history.

The build up is intense and you definitely empathize with the characters and the dark path they are plummeted into. I love when an author can write a story poetically, The flow of the wording and a description so vivid that you feel as though you are in the time that the event's transpired.
That is definitely accomplished in Wrathbone.
I am a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft and you can see the influence of these great author's in the story.

The Only Good Lawyer
This story brings us back to current time. It is about a sheisty lawyer named Bradley Walsh who got more than he bargained for when trying his case he thought was in the bag. He tried to railroad the wrong witness and got what he deserved when Karma was sped along with the help of a Voodoo Man. Don't ever cross a Voodoo Daddy (literally). I really liked this story as well! I love anything to do with Voodoo.

Dorian's Mirror
This is the story of what could happen if you are a shallow, self-absorbed douche lol.
Dorian prides himself on nothing but his good look's, but what happens when the fear of losing that becomes all too real. Too much boozing and too much narcissism lead to Dorian's demise. I liked this story but I would have liked to see a little more at the end as far as the conclusion but regardless it does fuel the imagination.

For The Birds
For The Birds tells the Story of a man, his best friend that is a bird, and two cold blooded burglars. Nev's best friend is a parrot named Joji that, to his surprise, has found a liking to meat. I won't tell any more because I don't want to give too much away but all I can say is WOW lol! This was a different kind of story which I totally dig. It's like Cujo for bird owners lmao!
I was expecting the story to go a different way but it had a different twist.

Revenge Is A Dish
Maurice is a Master Chef who is offered the opportunity of being the chef aboard a yacht belonging to a wealthy doctor and his much younger wife who are sailing around the world. When tight quarters and the bad choice of screwing around with the employers wife land him in the trying situation of being dumped in the middle of the ocean, he starts considering revenge of his own. Before becoming a meal for the sharks a turn of event's may just make that possible but even he couldn't have planned how everything was about to go down. This story will absolutely surprise and satisfy!

So with this being the last story, I have to say the first, Wrathbone and the last, Revenge Is A Dish are my favorites with The Good Lawyer coming right behind them. Never the less all the stories are sure to please. I am excited to see what else will come from the mind of Jason Parent.

I definitely recommend getting a copy of Wrathbone and Other Stories. Grab a blanket and a cup of coffee and curl up with these hauntingly good stories. Then let me know what you think :-).

Here is a link to his web site as well as to the book on Amazon.com. Enjoy!

Beginning Halloween Season At Spirit's!

I wait....impatiently.... for the www.spirithalloween.com site to say STORE'S OPEN! Pretty much as soon as that is said, my daughter and I make a trip to the closest one. We usually mark the occasion by wearing our matching Friday the 13th T-Shirts lol.

We geek out over all the new decorations and costume's and wish we had a magic credit card to buy all the thing's on our list.

We take picture's of all the cool, creepy stuff and sometime's even video.

Most of all we get to be in the spirit because when your Fall Season is in the 90's and sometime's 100's it is hard to get that Fall Feeling. I miss the feeling of noticing the crispness in the air a little bit more, seeing the leaves start to gradually change color, hearing the rustling of fallen leaves on the ground and feeling the anticipation of the Darkest Night of the Year.

I also get inspiration for decorations to DIY. Some I am able to do and other's I put on my to do list of Halloween Awesomeness!

Here are just some of the spooky goodies we like. What are your favorite's from Spirit's Halloween?

I am also considering doing some Youtube video's, what do you think? Should I?

Hope you enjoy the pictures!
